Before winter storage, I make sure my outboard is ready to sit. My routine is simple:
- Add fuel stabilizer to the tank.
- Run the motor to circulate treated fuel.
- Fog the cylinders with fogging oil.
- Drain and flush the lower unit.
- Store the motor upright.
It takes less than an hour, but it keeps my outboard from gumming up or corroding over the winter. Come spring, it fires up like I never stopped using it.
