I was recently on the microskiff forum and came across these really nice welded stools on the front of some skiffs. I didn’t know what they were so I decided to do a little digging.
These stools are called casting stools or tarpon stools. They’re used for fighting larger fish like tarpon from the front deck. Older anglers and those who enjoy sitting while casting instead of standing on a platform will really appreciate these casting stools.
I heard fishing guides say that their clients really use the stools too, and some prefer it! These are very similar to bass boat casting seats but built more heavy duty for bigger fish and the saltwater environment. Check out the links below to see more.
